🥁 Just a few days to go: Join us this Thursday for Prof. Amanda H. Goodall's lecture on academic leadership!
Who should lead a university? Based on her research, Prof. Dr. Amanda H. Goodall presents her strong thesis that universities should be led by top scholars and not general managers. In this upcoming lecture, Amanda will explain why subject-matter experts make the most effective university leaders. Their deep understanding of academia’s core mission leads to better decision-making, improved institutional performance, and higher job satisfaction among faculty and staff. However, Amanda also emphasizes that exceptional researchers are not automatically good leaders. Before assuming top positions, they require specific leadership training and experience, such as managing large research programs or serving as deans or vice-rectors. We warmly invite you to join us for this thought-provoking discussion on the future of university leadership, moderated by Prof. Dr. Klaus Jonas. 📅 May 8, 2025 ⏰ 17:15–19:00 📍Alte Kantonsschule, Zurich 📩 Register via email: tanya.buelbuel@uzh.ch #HigherEducation #Leadership Universität Zürich | University of Zurich
